The Round Table "The Ukrainian constitutionalism: history, lessons and practice", and touched 300 anniversary of foundation the Constitution by Pylyp Orlyk

On 25th March the Round Table took place in press centre of Poltava Department of Tourism and Culture. The main theme of the Table was "The Ukrainian constitutionalism: history, lessons and practice", and touched 300 anniversary of foundation the Constitution by Pylyp Orlyk. The general creator of the event became the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "The Field of of Poltava Battle" with help of the city Department of Tourism and Culture. Leading Poltava scientists, the museum workers, members of civil organizations and mass media took part in the meeting process.

Wide range of different questions was touched during the meeting: history and reasons of creating the First constitution, its historical and legal aspects, lighting of P. Orlyk constitution in school program, constitutional traditions of Ukraine and modern times.

During the meeting leading emphasis was given to permanent aspiration of Ukrainian people for democracy, republic system which found its representation in the constitution articles.

One of the most urgent articles was pointed out the article of "Legal structure and Constitution about rights and freedoms of Zaporizhzhya troops…", in which the question of Ukrainian orthodox church exarchate renovation was touched. Social approach of the First Ukrainian Constitution was also pointed out.

During the Round Table work the scientific presentation of the film "Happened in Bendery, after Poltava" (created by television and radio company "Ltava", script writer and director – A. Myshin) took place there. The film was honored to P. Orlyk living and activity as a hetman of Ukraine and the author of the First Ukrainian constitution.

The new edition of "Hetman Pylyp Orlyk – the author of the First constitution" book, written by – the Museum of Poltava Battle deputy director L. Shendryk – was also presented.
