Celebration of the Great Poltava Battle 303th anniversary

On June 27 in the State Historical and Cultural Reserve The Field of the Great Poltava Battle celebration of the Great Poltava Battle 303th anniversary was held. The emblem of the event became a dove as a bird of peace, the traditional motto of the festival was Swedish proverb: Time heals all wounds. The guests were offered not only to keep that dove in their memory but to put its image on the body. So everyone could join the attraction Body painting, which was conducted by the pupils of the Poltava Childrens Art School.

A craftsmens village was situated in front of the museum. There were potters, masters of folk doll and zoomorphic toys. Yana Yakymchuk conducted master class on clay modeling, Natalia Sviridiuk presented the traditional Ukrainian nodal doll making and Natalia Dmytrenko Slavic zoomorphic toys. Near the Russian warriors bed of honor the stage was constructed, where chamber orchestra headed by Oleksandr Abramov and folk-ethnographic group Yakivchanski vytivky gave their performances. Sts. Peter and Paul Chapel was opened for visitors. Historical-informative competition Ukraine, Russia, Sweden at historical crossing was held in the museum, aimed to check knowledge about the Poltava battle: participants got points for answering the questions, which could be changed to presents.

The celebration ended with martial art demonstration by members of the military-sport club Warrior, club Slavs and mini-concert of group from Poltava children musical school 1 Live drums.
