Samiylo Velichko Award 2012

Ceremonial Samiylo Velichko Award distribution took place on August, 24, 2012, near the monument “To Died Ukrainian Cossacks”, during celebration of 21th anniversary of Ukrainian independence.
The award is given for the best achievements in approval of humanistic and national ideals, ideas of Ukrainian independence, spiritual values of Ukrainian people and substantial contribution to national cultural renewing of Ukrainian.
Annual Samiylo Velichko Award, initiated by the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "The Field of the Great Poltava Battle" and Poltava Municipality order of 14.05.2003, # 355, awarded for the best achievements which assert humanistic and national ideals, ideas of independence of Ukraine cultural wealth of the Ukrainian people and is an important contribution to the national and cultural revival of Ukraine.
This year was awarded:
First nomination “Investigation in history of Ukraine and Poltava region” - Voloskov Valeriy Fedorovych, author by 8 books about local history: „The Great Poltava Battle „Before” and „After”, «That was near Poltava…», „The last love of Ivan Mazepa”, „Trip by Poltava region with a coin in a hand”, „Coordinates of time. Ethnographical studies of Poltava region”, „The Japanese diary of S.Y.Mamay” and other.
Second nomination “Reflection of national history in mass media” was held by editorial collective of anthology "Ridnyy kray":
- Naenko Mykhailo – Head of the Editorial Board;
- Stepanenko Mykola – main editor;
- Bilyk Galyna - managing editor.
Third nomination “For contribution in development of State Historical Reserve “The Field of the Great Poltava Battle” was held by Bezverhniy Oleg and Tristanov Borys, Reserve cooperation with them has a great scientific, educational and practical value for museum work.
Fourth nomination “Reflection of fateful events in art works” was held by Yuriy Matveev - fashion designer, author of collection of historical costumes „The Great Poltava Battle – 300 years ago”.
